Welcome Michael and family

We are delighted to welcome Michael Hutchinson and his family to CCL during July; he'll be finding out about life in the Church of England in France. Read his message below:
"I’m a second-year ordinand currently studying at St Mellitus North-West, which is based in Liverpool. The training is mixed-mode, which means I spend half my time doing academic study and half my time on placement in parish. My primary placement parishes are St Thomas’, Lancaster, and St John’s, Ellel. I am currently exploring a calling to ministry in the Diocese in Europe and am very grateful to Debbie for enabling me to spend some time alongside her at Christ Church. My wife, Elise, is from nearby Laventie, and we are parents to Emma, who is 19-months old. I enjoy all varieties of sport, dancing and French culture. We look forward to meeting you in July."

Edith Cavell

If you don't know the moving story of Edith Cavell, find out more at this exhibition in St George's Church Ypres.
There are strong links to Lille too, as Louise Thuliez, active in the Cavell network, was a school teacher in Lille. She was condemned to death along with Edith Cavell but her sentence was commuted to imprisonment.
Edith Cavell most famously said "Patriotism is not enough. I must have no hatred or bitterness for anyone."
