20 November

Stir-Up Sunday
Firstly, this Sunday used to be known as "Stir-up Sunday" because of the Collect for that day in the Book of Common Prayer:
Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people; that they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may of thee be plenteously rewarded; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
You can read more about it at this link and why it became a tradition for families to prepare their Christmas puddings, pies and mincepies on that date. So get ready to prepare yours, we need your contributions for our Christmas market! Contact Frances for more information treasurer@christchurchlille.fr
These days, it's called "Christ the King" and it's also the last Sunday before Advent (yes, we are that close!)
It's also Safeguarding Sunday: Protecting vulnerable people is at the heart of the Christian message of justice: Safeguarding Sunday is one way we show we take it seriously. You'll hear more from our Safeguarding Team.
We are making efforts to care for our world, so this Sunday after the service, visit our Potting Shed and recycle a tin can, plant a bulb.
Sunday Club meets this Sunday, don't miss it!
Working with Christ is a prayer group for professional people; they meet in the church hall on a Saturday morning for coffee. They are meeting tomorrow 19 November; more information here:

Prayers for Ukraine

Please don't forget that this conflict is ongoing and your prayers are still needed. Prayers and other resources are available on the Diocesan website
Did you know our income is currently about €1000 per month less than our outgoings?
We are entirely self-funded and we have cut back our expenses as much as possible; but we still need a regular income.
We're grateful to everyone who continues to support the church and its work, which goes beyond weekly services. Thank you!
If you're not already a regular giver, please consider whether you can give a little each month. Small amounts are just as welcome as large ones, really!
It's easy to give, here's a link to our "Giving" page
