On Tuesday 1 July, we were delighted to welcome members of the Maronite church, based in Marcq en Baroeul, Mons en Baroeul and Villeneuve d'Ascq. They visited the church, and learnt something of the history of the Anglican church in Lille and ended their visit with tea, cucumber sandwiches and cakes in the church hall. The school year is ending, the summer is here; although rather hotter at the moment than we might wish. We hope that many of you will be able to take some time to relax and gather your strength before the busy autumn and rentrée is upon us. If you are unable to take a holiday, try to find time to ease up on things. Our church year takes a slight breather too, as our groups take a break over the summer. But we're working on the bric-à-brac stall for the braderie: if you will be able to help even for a short while, that would be wonderful: please contact Calvin or Nick.

Finding a new chaplain
|
This academic year, we have been spending a lot of time working on the vacancy procedure since Debbie retired last November. After much discussion and thought, we have agreed the text of the advertisement, which will be published early September. All the supporting material, which includes clear descriptions of our church, of Lille, and of the chaplaincy house, has also been refined and photographs included so that we hope to appeal to the person who is meant to come here. We can only offer a half-time stipend (salary), which makes things a bit more complicated, but we are hopeful of finding good candidates.

Interviews are planned for November.

If you have questions, please speak to one of the church officers.

Services during the summer
|
Services continue every Sunday throughout the summer. We are grateful to the Reverend Elisabeth Dean, who will be leading services every Sunday except for the first Sunday of the month. On the first Sunday, there will be a service of Morning Prayer led by one of our Christ Church Lille Congregational Worship Leaders.

We will be manning a bric-a-brac stall at the Braderie de Lille this year so please start looking out items in good condition for us (clothes, toys, kitchenware, decorative items etc, but no books or electrical goods please)
