Happy to see so many people in church even during the summer. We do know that many of you are not able to take holidays, but we hope you are enjoying meeting up on a Sunday. And last week's apple tart was obviously a winner ... (thanks Suzanne)

It's not all good, however, and we are sending our thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the terrible wildfires both in France and elsewhere in Europe. Our prayers go too to the firefighters and all those trying to help.

Late news: We're having a cleaning blitz next week on Saturday morning 16 August. We have volunteers for weeding and cleaning the outside of the church, but would love to have helpers to hoover and dust inside the church. Thank you for all your answers to our survey last week. It seems that herbs and flowers grow in your gardens or on your balconies, but our readers don't seem to be keen vegetable growers. Probably not surprising as most respondents said they only had a small or courtyard garden!

We'll be publishing a new survey shortly, look out for the opportunity to share some input (without sharing personal information). It all helps us to provide useful items in the newsletter - thank you.

In a recent newsletter, we mentioned the stained glass window depicting the parable of the Good Samaritan.
Thank you for the positive feedback, and here is one of an occasional series on the church windows. This window shows the story of Jesus blessing the children (Matthew 19:14)

If you find the window, you will see that one of the dedications is for a child who died at a very young age.

Services during the summer

Services continue every Sunday throughout the summer and into autumn. We are grateful to the Reverend Elisabeth Dean, who will be leading services every Sunday except for the first Sunday of the month.
On the first Sunday, there will be a service of Morning Prayer led by one of our Christ Church Lille Congregational Worship Leaders.
