The website Bible Gateway enables you to see any of the readings on line, and in any of 50 languages. In church, we use the NIV (UK) version.
The church calendar is on our website, and all the services and readings are shown there.
Bring and Share lunch this Sunday 7 October - bring some food to share and join us for our church community lunch following the morning service. Everyone is welcome.

On 7 October we shall be giving thanks for all God's gifts at our Harvest Festival

Your gifts of non-perishable items (for example, tins, packets, jars, oil, condiments, etc) will be most welcome.
And if you like, you can contribute to a fund we are setting up to help ABEJ support migrant unaccompanied minors to travel to school. A collection box will be available, or you can send your donation to the Treasurer.
A new sermon series starts on Sunday 7 October at the Evening Service. Everyone welcome!

What's happening in October

13 October the International Singers are in concert in Lille, commemorating the liberation of the city. Details here.
13 October there will be a choir concert in Christ Church at 8:30 pm (see below).
15 October the heating works start in the church hall. The hall and the kitchen will be unavailable until15 December.
21 October our "Coffee in-between" the two morning services starts again.
21 October is the first of the preparation sessions for Confirmations and Baptisms when the Bishop will be will us. Contact the Chaplain if you are ready to take part (you need to attend all four sessions).

New heating system

We are so pleased that we are going to get a new heating system, which will heat the hall and the church. The new system will cost less to run, we hope, and we are very grateful to the Town Hall for all their work on this, which includes negotiating with the building promoters working on the new block of flats next door.
In fact, it's this new block which has provoked the works, as the original chimney on our building has to come down, so a modern system needs to be put in place.
  • Works start mid October, but will finish in time for our Christmas market (promised)
  • There will be NO access to the basement area (kitchen and hall) during the works but the lavatories will be accessible.
  • We are contacting groups which currently use the hall to make sure there is alternative accommodation.
  • Please bear with us, it will be worth it in the end!

Don't forget you can apply to take part in this interesting visit to the European Union, to see the Ecumenical work that goes on.
Please contact the Chaplain as soon as possible, there is time limit for applications; you'll also need identity documents.
