The 14th Sunday after Trinity
A service of Holy Communion led by the Reverend Elisabeth Dean
As we continue through the season of Creationtide, this week we are sharing with you a beautiful hymn written by the poet Folliott S. Pierpoint in 1863. He was sitting on a hilltop outside his native city of Bath, England, admiring the country view and the winding Avon River. Inspired by the view to think about God's gifts in creation and in the church, he wrote this hymn.
Many of you will know the hymn set to "Dix" by Kocher, so you will enjoy this link, the choir is from the university church in Dublin:

But no apologies for also sharing the wonderful setting by John Rutter, sung here by a choir from Vilnius, in Lithuania.

Please let me know if you enjoy these occasional links, and apologies for the adverts on YouTube, I can't do anything about them, but that's why it's free to use.
Tomorrow, the church will be open on Saturday afternoon (20 September) from 14:00-17:00 for the Lille Heritage days, when we will welcome visitors to find out more about our church. The theme this year is architectural heritage, and our church is something special in Lille.

News from the Braderie weekend

Repeated thanks to all who took part, the resulting revenue was about €500, very similar to last year.
We are currently reconsidering how to move forward, the return for the effort involved is not really sustainable. Ideas? Get in touch, we're listening !
Care for the earth, care for creation. An image of the earth.

Creationtide

Creationtide is the period between 1 September and 4 October dedicated to reflecting on God as the Creator and Sustainer of life. Christians are encouraged to celebrate the natural world and renew their commitment to caring for the Earth, particularly in the face of growing environmental issues.
This season closes with our Harvest Festival (5 October), which celebrates the fruits of the earth.

Thank you to everyone who supports Christ Church Lille, in whatever way. Of course, bills have to be paid, so regular contributions are vital, but we also value your help in the life of the church.
Your support is especially valued during this time of interregnum (in other words, while we don't have a permanent chaplain). And sincere thanks go to the Reverend Elisabeth Dean for travelling up from Paris most Sundays, rain or shine.
So please continue your giving, and your volunteering, it is much appreciated.
