A Service of Holy Communion
for the Sunday next before Lent

Did you know?
This Sunday is still sometimes called Quinquagesima, which refers to the 50th day before Easter. It is also Transfiguration Sunday. Whatever we call it, we remember that Lent begins on Wednesday 18 February. See the poster below for details of services during Lent and Easter.

Last Sunday we were delighted to see so many people in church and 35 people and two children stayed to enjoy a delicious lunch: warm thanks to everyone who contributed.
And thank you to one of our Churchwardens, David, who presented some of the people who keep our church running, often in the background. He also updated us on the search for a new chaplain.
|
|
We won't bore you with a long list of details here! But if you'd like to contribute, whether it's bringing some useful goods* for our morning coffee or for cleaning, or even offering your services for help with any of the other areas mentioned, including communications, please get in touch, either reply to this newsletter or speak to one of the church officers.

Following several very welcome offers of regional or local food for a future event, we're looking at organising an international church supper, which would celebrate our cosmopolitan, international and diverse congregation. Would you like to share some food from your country or region? Get in touch. We know some students don't have a lot of funds available, so we can probably help if needed, let us know.

|
|
|
|
|
|
Lent begins on 18 February. We are unable to hold a service in church on Ash Wednesday, but for those who wish, we will offer Ashing on the following Sunday, 22 February.
|
|
During Lent, our Sunday morning services continue, usually Holy Communion except 1 March which will be Morning Prayer.
|
|
