A letter from the Chaplain on lockdown #2

A letter from the Chaplain on lockdown #2

Dear members and friends of Christ Church,

Thursday evening’s announcement by President Macron of a second lockdown took me by surprise. I knew we were facing further restrictions but even though I had not expected lockdown#2 I found myself humming ‘We Shall Overcome’! Whilst that may something about my age, it also speaks volumes about where we are as a church community, resilient, cheerful, flexible, responsive, caring.

In March we moved our community on-line in the space of a few days, thanks to our Communications Team. Now in late October we already have in place many ways of keeping in touch, teaching and preaching the Gospel, the core of our existence as individuals and a worshipping community spread across Europe and well beyond.

Although the lockdown means that the church building is closed for a while, we continue to be able to offer you different ways of connecting with God and each other. For me, one of the lessons I have learned over the past months is that our core values of  sharing God’s message of love, of welcome and hospitality are now spread between in-person services in church and virtually at home.

We will miss yet more significant moments together in church, Remembrance Sunday, Christmas Carols, but be of good cheer as we have already in place plans to bring church to you, wherever you are.

During this lockdown time there are video services each week, Mosaic has moved seamlessly on-line, new workshops are already happening starting this Sunday, November 1st and 2nd. More is in the planning stages.

Lockdown is also a difficult time for many of us, can we please pray for each other? Keep in touch by any means possible, phone/WhatsApp/Zoom. Just stay in touch, give me a call, I’d love to hear from you.

May God continue to bless each one of us and bring us his comfort and peace.

Yours in Christ,

Debbie
