The International English-speaking church

Live from the General Synod in London

Many of you will know that I am a member of the Church of England’s General Synod and am in London this week for our February group of sessions.

You can see the full Agenda for this week at this link. One item of interest for us is GS 2046 where there is draft legislation to allow greater participation by people of other Christian churches in the life and worship in our churches; all good news for sharing the Good News! Another was a debate on Monday afternoon on the anniversary of the Reformation, again good news as it welcomes the growing co-operation between churches especially in Europe. I was not called to speak on the reformation debate but was able to talk about our church life in Lille yesterday afternoon.
Today we work on the report by the House of Bishops GS2055 on Marriage and Same Sex Relationships after the Shared Conversations. It is something that causes deep emotion whatever your view and it will be a difficult day.
Your prayers are always appreciated as I play my part in trying to bring about change within the Church of England through participation in Synods
