A warm Christ Church Lille welcome to Reverend Tony Monds. He and his wife will be with us from the end of February until Easter. He sent us this information.
Tony is married to Jenny, a retired librarian and bookshop manager. He practised as a solicitor in a regional firm rising to become the managing partner. He was ordained as a non-stipendiary priest in 2000 before leaving the law and becoming a stipendiary priest in 2004. After a ‘top up’ curacy at Sherborne Abbey, Tony became Vicar of six rural parishes in Dorset from 2006 until 2015 when he was appointed Chaplain to the Bishop of Salisbury, the Rt Revd Nicholas Holtam. When Bishop Nicholas retired in 2020, Tony acted as Chaplain first to the Acting Bishop of Salisbury, the Rt Revd Karen Gorham, and then to the new Bishop of Salisbury, the Rt Revd Stephen Lake, before he retired in 2023. He and Jenny live in the Chalke Valley outside Salisbury where he continues to exercise a ministry with Permission to Officiate. He is Chair of the trustees of St Nicholas’ Hospital, an almshouse with some 30 residents established over 800 years ago just outside Salisbury Cathedral
