Christ Church Lille Newsletter 9 September 2022

Dear reader
Well that was a first for us, our bric-à-brac stall was popular and lots of people stopped to chat.
But so many people said they missed our pavement café, we need to think how we might get this authorised. Any ideas? (We don't have a professional catering licence).
Takings amounted to some €1600 euros.
A huge "thank you" to all those who participated, who volunteered, who donated items for sale; we couldn't have done it without you.
And we say thank you in our turn to Debbie and the team who organised everything.

Blessing the Backpacks

This Sunday, you are invited to bring your briefcase, your bag or your backpack for a blessing now that the children are back to school and we start a new year.
An image of...
Debbie says "Today, as schools and universities, teachers, and each of us, begin a new academic year, we will be blessing the backpacks, bags, and briefcases that you use every day. I pray you will remember throughout the year that you and your daily life have been blessed. "
Come along on Sunday morning 11 September at 10:30 am; hope to see you there.

Ladies' Bible Study

Online Ladies bible study recommences Thursday 15th September at 11am. For the next 6 weeks we will be studying the book of Ruth with video teachings from Dr Sandy Richter who makes each of the characters come alive.
Set in the midst of one of the most corrupt eras of Israelite history, Ruth is a story about three compelling characters. Naomi an elderly widow who has lost everything and returns to her homeland empty and bitter, hoping simply to survive. Ruth is Naomi’s young daughter-in-law, also a widow, and a foreigner, who at great personal cost refuses to let Naomi face the future alone. Boaz is the local patriarch—a man of wealth and influence -- who in this epic tale is given the opportunity to do the right thing, even though the right thing might not be the obvious thing. Forget Netflix, here is real life, lived out by real people with real fears, real struggles, real hope, and real faith.

Prayers for Ukraine

Please don't forget that this conflict is ongoing. Your prayers are still needed.
We are entirely self-funded and we have cut back our expenses as much as possible; but we still need a regular income.
We're grateful to everyone who continues to support the church and its work, which goes beyond weekly services. Thank you!
If you're not already a regular giver, please consider whether you can give a little each month. Small amounts are just as welcome as large ones, really!
It's easy to give, here's a link to our "Giving" page
