On Saturday 1 October, Debbie Flach and ecumenical colleagues from the churches in Lille came together to plant a tree near the Cathedral, underlining their concern for the planet, and as part of Creationtide.

Following a suggestion originally put forward in France (and Debbie was one of the proposers), the Diocese in Europe is making available the first parts of a new Lay training course.
Registration opens soon for the diocesan lay training course. Potential applicants are being urged to consider signing up for ‘Walking Together in Faith’. The course is open to all lay members of the Church – from people simply looking to learn more about the Christian faith to individuals exploring the possibility of formal lay ministry. The multi-media course has been designed to be very flexible and will be accessed via the online platform Moodle. Participants are encouraged to join a local group, but for those for whom that is not possible there will be online options. They can also choose their level of engagement – applicants can opt to use the course as a free study guide but, for a small fee, can also register, submit work for assessment and be awarded a Bishop’s Certificate in recognition of their achievements. We are entirely self-funded and we have cut back our expenses as much as possible; but we still need a regular income.
Our income is currently about €1000 per month less than our outgoings.
We're grateful to everyone who continues to support the church and its work, which goes beyond weekly services. Thank you!
If you're not already a regular giver, please consider whether you can give a little each month. Small amounts are just as welcome as large ones, really!
