Christ Church Lille Newsletter 21 October 2022

Dear reader
There is a new cycle path in rue Watteau - you may not have noticed and your editor certainly didn't. So please look out for cyclists coming towards you, and please be careful not to park or overlap on the areas painted in green. I can confirm that the fine on a Sunday morning came as a nasty and expensive shock.
The City of Lille, who own our building, are now able to schedule some overdue works and we understand that the big blue door to the hall will soon be restored too. We're in regular touch and are grateful for their continued care for the building. Also on the list of planned works is the question of accessibility; we'll keep you informed.
Sunday 23 October
10:30 am: A service of Holy Communion

Safeguarding Sunday and Potting Shed 20 November

Protecting vulnerable people is at the heart of the Christian message of justice: Safeguarding Sunday is one way we show we take it seriously.
We also care about protecting the earth, so after the service, we will be offering the opportunity to pot up a spring bulb in a recycled tin can, for you to take home.
Anyone who can donate a (washed) tin can, please bring it along to church.

News from l'Accueil Marthe et Marie

This meeting place and welcome space in Lomme, in Humanicité, has sent information about a new exhibition entitled Apocalypse, which opens on 7 November.
Find details of this and other events on their website:

Prayers for Ukraine

Please don't forget that this conflict is ongoing and your prayers are still needed. Prayers and other resources are available on the Diocesan website
Did you know our income is currently about €1000 per month less than our outgoings?
We are entirely self-funded and we have cut back our expenses as much as possible; but we still need a regular income.
We're grateful to everyone who continues to support the church and its work, which goes beyond weekly services. Thank you!
If you're not already a regular giver, please consider whether you can give a little each month. Small amounts are just as welcome as large ones, really!
It's easy to give, here's a link to our "Giving" page
