We hope that "back to school" went well, and a warm welcome to all the students arriving for the new academic year here in Lille.
|
This weekend is the annual Braderie de Lille,🔗 and for those new to the city, it will come as a shock - it's huge!

Most importantly, we hope you saw our special newsletter last Sunday - we are so happy that Reverend Vivian Sockett has been appointed as our new chaplain.
We will share details of her licensing service on 10 October next week.

There is no church service this weekend, because of the Braderie.
|

Braderie 2026 – We’ll Miss You!
|
|
If you’re heading into the centre of Lille for the Braderie this weekend, you may notice that something is missing… us!
|
|
For the first time in many years, Christ Church Lille won’t have its familiar Braderie stall, and our church doors won’t be open to welcome visitors, bargain hunters and friends from across Lille and beyond.
|
|
It feels very strange. The Braderie has become such a special part of our year – a wonderful opportunity to meet people, share a little of who we are, and, of course, raise funds for the life and ministry of Christ Church Lille. It is normally our main annual fundraiser, so we shall certainly miss both the hard work and the fun!
|
|
The reason for our absence is, of course, the fire which damaged our historic church building in April. While the building remains closed and repairs continue, the church itself is very much alive. We are still worshipping, praying, singing, welcoming newcomers and serving our community – just from a temporary home for now.
|
|
So, as Lille fills with stalls, shoppers and the wonderful bustle of the Braderie, we’ll be thinking of you and missing being part of it.
|
|
And if you happen to think of Christ Church Lille while you’re out bargain hunting, there is a way to support us. The fire has brought some unexpected challenges, and if you would like to make a contribution towards our fire recovery fund, you can do so through our online giving platform 🔗. There is absolutely no obligation – but every gift, large or small, is gratefully received and helps us look towards the day when our church building can once again be open to the people of Lille.

Many thanks to everyone who helps prepare the aumônerie each week. Setting up and packing away only takes a few minutes, and many hands really do make light work. If you're able to lend a hand before or after the service, we'd be very grateful.

We're continuing to worship in the aumônerie, just opposite the church.
|
|
If you're coming to church, simply look for the big blue door to the church hall. Our temporary worship space is just across the road, behind the green door. Between the blue door and the green door, you're in the right place!
