As we move further into Lent, we can also think of it as a time for charity - the word used by translators of the Bible for the Greek word for "love".
Our Outreach association "La Solidarité" met recently to award grants, and you can see below information about one of the charities we supported. More next week.
You can also read Debbie Flach's reflections on Ash Wednesday, and why almsgiving is one of the traditional elements of Lent.
If you read to the end of this newsletter (please do!) you'll see the cartoon is also about caring for others, and some of the things that go on behind the scenes, and during the week when we're not in the church.
The second Sunday of Lent
Sunday 5 March 10:30: A service of Holy Communion
There will also be a service of baptism as we welcome Josephine to our Christian family, so we hope to see you there.

Outreach

One of the charities we support is called Lift up the Vulnerable and works in Africa, mainly in Sudan, empowering those at risk from trafficking.
We will pin some information on the noticeboard in the hall, or you can visit their website https://liftupthevulnerable.org
They have sent us details of a Lent prayer guide, so you might like to see this as part of our Lent reflections.
And don't forget that The Church of England has an app for daily reflections during Lent.

Electoral Roll

Every year at this time we revise our Electoral Roll. If you would like to be on the roll, and vote at the AGM, you can check whether you are on the roll, or complete a form to become a member.
Here is a link to the form.
More information from electoralroll@christchurchlille.fr
You must be over 18 and have been attending church regularly over the last six months. More details here.

La Solidarité Anglicane de Lille

This is our outreach organisation, and we will be holding our Annual General Meeting via Zoom on 21 March at 8 pm. Everyone is welcome, but only those on the electoral roll of the church can vote.
We will share the meeting link shortly.

Christ Church Lille Annual General Meeting

This is when we look back on the past year, and it is also an official requirement to approve the accounts and reports on our activities.
We will share more details nearer the time.

Prayers for Ukraine

Please continue to pray for all affected by this conflict.

Bishop's Lent Appeal

Every year, the Bishop appeals for donations to a particular need within the Diocese, and this year Bishop David writes about the situation in Morocco. You can read his letter and how you can contribute.
We are entirely self-funded and we have cut back our expenses as much as possible; but we still need a regular income.
We're grateful to everyone who continues to support the church and its work, which goes beyond weekly services. In particular, we are thankful for some recent generous donations, which have helped reduce our deficit. Thank you!
