Christ Church Lille Newsletter 14 October 2022

Dear reader
As the season of Creationtide closes, we leave you with some more to think about. We have been talking about our carbon footprint, but maybe you are not sure exactly what this means; you might like to watch this short BBC explanatory video.
During the Covid pandemic, travel was severely reduced around the world and carbon emissions reduced accordingly. Currently, as prices rise, we are not so much worried about safety, as about how to afford to travel, or heat our homes; for some people, how to afford to eat. But very often small changes are not just good for the planet they are good for our budget too. Check this page for some ideas.
10 ways to reduce your carbon footprint
At Christ Church Lille, we can't afford to turn the heating on, but this is good for the planet. (We'll look at turning it on if and when it gets really really cold but meanwhile, we provide lovely warm red blankets for you to use if you are feeling chilly).

What do you know about La Passerelle?

La Passerelle is an ecumenical space of welcome, run by volunteers from catholic and protestant churches and this little place of silence has existed in that huge commercial centre since 1994. There are exhibitions, talks and people available for a chat, and always a quiet place for prayer; they welcome people from different religions. About 3000 visitors come through the door every year.
Open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 (1st floor, behind Sephora) Information from 03 20 55 25 02 passerelle@nordnet.fr
Monday 14 November, Frank Andriat will be presenting his book from 18:00

Prayers for Ukraine

Please don't forget that this conflict is ongoing and your prayers are still needed. Prayers and other resources are available on the Diocesan website
Did you know our income is currently about €1000 per month less than our outgoings?
We are entirely self-funded and we have cut back our expenses as much as possible; but we still need a regular income.
We're grateful to everyone who continues to support the church and its work, which goes beyond weekly services. Thank you!
If you're not already a regular giver, please consider whether you can give a little each month. Small amounts are just as welcome as large ones, really!
It's easy to give, here's a link to our "Giving" page
