Dear subscriber
As we move into summer, it has been a relief to see some cooler weather these last few days, and some rain too.
It's not just Europe, parts of Asia have seen extraordinary and debilitating heat recently; please spare a thought for everyone trying to earn a living or even just survive in these exceptionally high temperatures.
This Sunday sees the start of what is called "Ordinary" time. And no, that doesn't mean "nothing special" It means the weeks outside Christmas and Easter, as we count from Pentecost to Advent. Church services continue, even if held in a different location.
For your diary
It's not really possible at the moment to organise one of our usual church lunches although we're looking forward to being able to meet up in the hall in the autumn.
But as you know, we are a friendly bunch and some of our members are planning to meet up for a picnic after the service on 28 June.
The JB LeBas park is just down the road, where there are play areas and a court for pétanque if you feel so inclined!
If you'd like to join in, bring a snack/a sandwich/a picnic, and some water. Maybe you can bring something to share too for unexpected guests?
We'll remind you nearer the time.

Sunday 7 June

The First Sunday of Trinity

10:30 a service of Morning Prayer, led by the Congregational Worship Leaders, and Paul Devos is preaching.
If you can, please use the digital service sheet available here 🔗— it’s easy to view on your phone and helps us save a little paper along the way. Thank you for supporting a greener approach! (You can of course print a copy if you prefer).
Thank you to everyone who helps set up the aumônerie for worship; can you help?
We need a few extra helpers before Sunday worship to set out chairs and prepare the space for the HC table — thank you!

Sunday services

As always at Christ Church, everyone is very welcome. The kettle is never far from the boil, the coffee pot is always hot and ready, and of course there will be biscuits — some even covered in chocolate!
For now, we are still meeting in the aumônerie opposite. The address is 1 rue Watteau and here's a map.
As mentioned it's just over the road from the big blue door.
Services upcoming
14-21-28 June: Holy Communion led by Reverend Elisabeth Dean
During July and August, we will be welcoming Reverend Gary Wilton and his wife, who will be leading most of our Sunday services while Elisabeth takes a well-earned break. More details later.

Fire Fund

We have been so happy to see how many people want to help, and are thinking of us. The donations are very much appreciated as we try to negotiate the path between insurance and excesses, but the knowledge that people are there for us is the best value. Thank you!
There is absolutely no obligation to contribute to the platform’s running costs, it’s entirely optional. You need to either move the slider to Zero, or untick - depending on whether you are reading in French or English, the layout is not the same.
Here is a link to some screenshots
If you would like to contribute but don't want to use that system, please contact the Treasurer (mentioning the Fire Fund) treasurer@christchurchlille.fr
