An update on the state of the church building

Since our last update, the Town Hall has managed to obtain quotes for all the repair and restoration work: the building will need decontamination and cleaning, and then there are all the works such as repairing the stained glass window, cleaning the organ and replacing the altar.

All public contracts need to be agreed after comparing quotes and what is included, it takes a little time, but the people at the Town Hall have been amazing, we are very grateful.

A lot of research has been necessary and we can confirm that the organ and the altar, and of course the stained glass, are agreed to be part of the church and come under the Lille insurance policy.
However, everything else that was burnt, destroyed, damaged or soot-damaged, belongs to the church and we are in the process of talking to our insurers.
So, lots of work and discussion is going on in the background; it may seem as if nothing is happening but that is not the case!

We very much hope that with some blocking of the site (where we cannot go) we might be able to use the church hall even if the church remains out of bounds. This is another subject of discussion and we’ll keep you updated.

Thank you for your patience, and for turning out to help set up the aumônerie. And of course for continuing to support us!
