Sunday Club Resources (Page 2)

What is Sunday Club?

If you are reading this, then maybe you remember going to Sunday School as a child, or maybe you just wonder what goes on.
Whatever your past experience, we’d like to invite your children to come and enjoy their time at our Sunday Club. We want to make it fun, so we use crafts, games and video, we teach them songs and tell bible stories.

Why is Sunday Club important?

Jesus’ message – God loves you – is for everyone, but we make it relevant to children according to their age and understanding. We want them to understand God’s love and grow into more caring, more productive adults.

The Scripture Union

Josiah Spiers first started teaching children bible stories outside of regular worship services. He made it so interesting and such fun that the first children brought their friends and the movement expanded. You can read more about the Scripture Union on their website. We use their brilliant resources to help us pass on the message and we’d like to make Sunday Club the highlight of the children’s week.

13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.
14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.
Matthew 19:13-15

Get involved

For young adults to retirees, getting involved in Children’s ministry can be a very rewarding way to grow one’s faith and serve the kingdom of God. Young children are open to hearing the Gospel; teaching them about Jesus and the Christian life is a privilege. Why not come and join the team?

Safeguarding

We take safeguarding very seriously. Teachers and helpers have to be checked and be trained – see this page for more information. But if you’d like to be part of the team, don’t let this put you off, just be glad that everyone cares about the welfare of children and young people.

Practical information

  • All children aged 4 – 11 are welcome
  • Sunday Club takes place only during school term time, not during school holidays. Dates are on the main Sunday Club page.
  • Children stay in church with parents at the beginning of the morning service (10.30) and go down to the church hall for Sunday Club after the first hymn
